Research Labs
The Anthropology Unit is made up of two laboratories: the Laboratoire d'anthropologie, génétique et peuplements (AGP) and the Laboratoire d'archéologie et peuplement de l'Afrique (APA).
Laboratory of anthropology, genetics and peopling history
The AGP investigates the genetic history of present human populations through the molecular and statistical analysis of various genetic polymorphisms (classical markers, HLA and other immune response-related polymorphisms, mtDNA sequences and SNPs, Y-chromosome SNPs and STRs, nuclear STRs, polymorphisms of drug-metabolizing genes, among others).
It also uses an interdisciplinary approach focusing on the comparison of genetic data with linguistic, archaeological and other cultural information, as well as computer simulation analyses to test alternative scenarios of modern human migrations and history.
The lab is also involved in the history of anthropology and the evolution of concepts related to human races.
The AGP participates to several courses and seminars of the Biology section (biomathematics, evolution, human biology, molecular population genetics, biological and cultural anthropology, methodology in biological research, computer skills in biological research). It also supervises students for their bachelor, master and PhD theses in biology and biological anthropology.

Laboratoire Archéologie et Peuplement de l'Afrique
Le Laboratoire d'archéologie et peuplement de l’Afrique (APA) développe des études ayant trait au peuplement humain en Afrique, de la préhistoire à l’époque contemporaine, et à ses relations avec les variations climatiques et environnementales.
Sur le terrain, l'APA mène actuellement ces recherches en Afrique de l'Ouest, en collaboration étroite avec quatorze institutions universitaires européennes et africaines, principalement au Sénégal et au Mali.
L’APA propose des sujets de monographie, de master et de thèse de doctorat en relation avec les recherches menées sur le terrain, ainsi que sur d'autres sujets à définir, sur demande auprès des directeurs de recherche du laboratoire.
